Founded in 1938 by DR. K.M. Munshi, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is today an all India intellectual, cultural and educational movement dedicated to the twin task of interpreting the age old yet ageless message of our country and of integrating our varied and vibrant culture with the changing needs of the present day world.

During the seven decades of its life, the Bhavan has come to be recognized as a symbol of India’s glorious past and as a comprehensive national institution with an international outlook touching all segments of life and enriching all spheres of activity.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan conducts classes from Kindergarten to Post-graduate research and imparts education in subjects ranging from Carnatic music to Computers, from Sanskrit to Business Management and from Yoga to Journalism. This is being accomplished through its centres spread all over the country and abroad, through its constituent institutions, through its various publications; through cultural and educational programmes it conducts from time to time and above all, through personal discussions and dialogues.

The Bhavan has expanded vastly in its activities and today it has more than 118 centres and 361 educational institutions spread all over India and seven overseas centres. The number of students are over three-hundred thousand. The Bhavan serves as a bridge between the East and West, between the past and the present, and between science and spirituality. This is a totally non-denominational institution representing the composite culture of India.

Our Objectives
  • The primary objective of the school is the harmonious development of the personality of the child and the building up of his character which will enable him to face the challenges of life. The school also helps the child to develop his innate abilities and skills in understanding, evaluating and applying the knowledge imparted to him and to enhance the glorious cultural tradition to which he belongs.
  • According to Bhavan’s educational philosophy, “The ideal education should impart knowledge, shape character and mould the personality of the child”,
